Job Title: Homeownership Litigation Assistant
Location: Southwark, London (Hybrid working available)

Salary: £32,000 – £35,000 per annum (Grade 7, depending on experience)
Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent

🏠 About the Role
Southwark Council is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Homeownership Litigation Assistant to support legal and housing teams in delivering effective casework and litigation services related to leasehold and homeownership matters.
You’ll play a key role in progressing legal action against leaseholders and homeowners in breach of their obligations, including arrears recovery, enforcement of lease terms, and dispute resolution. This is a great opportunity to build hands-on experience within a public sector legal setting while contributing to the fair and efficient management of Southwark’s housing portfolio.
📋 Key Responsibilities

Support solicitors and litigation officers in managing homeownership-related legal cases

Assist with the preparation of legal documentation for court proceedings and tribunals

Maintain accurate case files, records, and correspondence

Liaise with internal teams, leaseholders, legal representatives, and external agencies

Support service charge recovery and enforcement processes

Prepare witness statements and evidence bundles for hearings

Attend court as appropriate and assist with case administration

Monitor deadlines, legal notices, and progress of cases
👤 What We’re Looking For

Experience in a legal, housing, or property-related administrative role

Understanding of housing law, leasehold management, or litigation procedures (desirable)

Strong organisational and case management skills

Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines

Confident communicator, both written and verbal

Proficient in Microsoft Office and casework systems

A team player with a proactive and professional approach
